Head Women's Tennis Coach Mark Henry returns for his 13th season at UCR, and his 11th as solely the women's head coach.

Henry came to UC Riverside in September 1993 as head men's tennis coach and took over both programs in August 1995. In the summer of 2001 Henry was given the reigns of the women's program following the hiring of York Strother as the men's head coach.

A 1985 graduate of Whittier College with a BA in psychology, Henry was the head coach of the Poets from 1988-89 before moving on to work with nationally ranked teams at UC Irvine from 1989-92 and Cal Poly Pomona in 1992-93.

In his career at UCR, Henry has taken teams to the NCAA Regionals eight times. Durning the past 12 seasons he has coached an All-American, two ITA Regional Rookies of the Year, three ITA Arthur Ashe Award Winners for Leadership and Sportsmanship, 12 all-conference performers, a UCR Female Atlhlete of the Year and four nationally ranked teams. In the last two years teh UCR women's teniis players have earned five All-Big West selections as well as their first Division I national ranking.

In the classroom his teams have been outstanding, earning ITA All-Academic honors five times. Individually there have been 14 ITA Academic All-Americans, a Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-American and two UCR Scholar-Athletes of the Year.

Henry is a two-time Division II West Region Coach of the Year, winning the honor with the women's program in 1997 and the men's program in 1998. He is a member of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) and is serving his third year as a member of the ITA Regional Committee.

Henry resides in Alta Loma with his wife Anne and their children Aaron, Michael, and Jillian. You may have seen the younger members of the Henry clan in one of their various television, commercial or movie appearances. In his free time, Henry enjoys playing tennis, participating in senior tournaments, playing golf, snowboarding and spending time with his family.
