(Oct. 6, 2007) - The UC
Riverside Highlanders ran into some tough competition on day
two of the Cal State Fullerton Tennis Tournament Saturday.
Junior Erynne Oki and sophomore
Donna McCullough each lost their round-of-16 matches in the
main draw. Oki fell to No. 5 seed Whitney Peterson of Cal
Poly, 6-2, 6-3, while McCullough lost to No. 7 seed Steffi
Wong of Cal Poly, 6-1, 6-3.
In the Consolation draw,
Roxanne Plata won her first round match with an 8-3 decision
over Juliette Mutzke of UCSB, but fell in her second round
match to Ali Welliver of UCI, 8-6.
In doubles play, the team
of Oki and Plata lost their their third round match, 8-0 to
Koichumanova and Doane of CS Northridge. The team of McCullough
and Yasaman Sakhakorn lost their second round match to UCSB's
Damion and Onaga, 8-6.
