(Sept.
27, 2004) - Junior Lindsay Snowden's 2-under 70 helped the
UC Riverside women’s golf team finish in second place
after Day One of the Inland Empire Women's Classic in Post
Falls, ID. Snowden is currently tied for first place among
individual competitors.
As a team, UCR shot 307, nineteen strokes over par. They trail
first-place Idaho by eight strokes after the Vandals shot
an 11-under 299. The rest of the top five rounds out as follows:
hosts Eastern Washington (313, +25), Montana (314, +26), and
Wyoming (315, +27).
Individually,
Snowden set the tone for the day, shooting 35-35 to tie for
the lowest first round. Seniors Kim Feliciano (42-36) and
Le-Anh Nguyen (38-40) each shot a six-over 78 and are tied
for 22nd. Junior Cathleen O'Neill shot 40-41 and is tied for
37th at 81 (+9). Senior Courtney O'Neill is twelve strokes
back and tied for 41st, having shot 42-40 for a 10-over 81.
The
tournament concludes tomorrow at The Highlands CC.

(Sept.
28, 2004) - The UC Riverside women’s golf team won its
first-ever tournament Tuesday, shooting a final round 299
to win the 11-team Inland Empire Women's Classic in Post Falls,
ID. Junior Lindsay Snowden led the way, winning the tournament
with an even-par 144.
Coming into the second and final day of competition, UCR was
at 307, eight strokes behind Idaho. The Highlanders turned
it on Tuesday, posting a combined score of 299, eleven strokes
over par. UCR ended the two-day event at 606, 30 strokes over
par. Idaho finished second with a total of 299-315=614 (+38).
After
tying for the first round lead with a 2-under 70, Snowden
played steady enough the second round, carding a 2-over 74
to finish at even-par 144, one stroke ahead of Eastern Washington's
Carlie Allen. The win was Snowden's first of the year after
winning two events last season.
Senior
Le-Anh Nguyen was the Highlanders' low scorer Tuesday, shooting
71 (-1) to finish tied for fifth at 149, five strokes back.
Junior Cathleen O'Neill also cracked the top-20, firing
an 81-74=155 to finish tied for 14th. Rounding out the UCR
scoring were senior Courtney O'Neill, who finished tied for
36th at +18 (82-80=162) and senior Kim Feliciano in 54th place
at 78-93=171 (+27).
(Oct.
12, 2004) -The UC Riverside Highlanders moved up on spot to
finish in 12th place at the Bronco Fall Invitational at Falcon
Crest Golf Course in Kuna, Idaho.
The Highlanders shot a final round 318 to finish with a three
round total of 949, 67 shots behind first place Southern Methodist,
which won the tournament with an 882, 21 shots up on second
place Colorado State.
The
Highlanders shot 321 in the first round and team tournament
best 310 in the second. They had opened Tuesday in a tie for
13th as they finished the final three holes of the second
round, which had been called by darkness on Monday.
Cathleen
O'Neill took low honors for the Highlanders with a 235, good
for a tie for 36th. Her sister, Courtney, finished two shots
behind at 237, placing her in a tie for 45th.

(Oct.
26, 2004) - The UC Riverside Highlanders finished third at
the Golfmart/Lady Otter Invitational at Black Horse Golf Club
in Seaside, CA. The Highlanders shot a final round 326 and
slipped one spot back behind first place Cal Poly and second
place Chico State.
On day one, the Highlanders
shot a first round 321, five shots behind first place Cal
Poly's 316.
Senior Le-Anh Nguyen led
the highlanders with a sixth place finish at 11-over 157,
good for a tie for sixth place. Junior Lindsay Snowden was
ninth overall at 159.
The second day was played
in intermittent showers. Nguyen shot a second round 78, the
lowest round on the team in the two-day tournament.

9, 2004) - The UC Riverside Highlanders women's golf team
finished the day right where they started, placing fifth at
the Cal Poly Sports and Wellness
tournament at Cypress Ridge Golf Club in Arroyo Grande, CA.
The Highlanders shot their
second consecutive round of 319, for a two round total of
648, 19 shots behind first place Cal Poly and five strokes
behind fourth place Northern Arizona.
Junior Lindsay Snowden was
the Highlanders' top finisher, placing in a tie for fourth
at 152 after shooting a team-low 78 in the second round. Senior
Kim Feliciano, playing in her final match of her career, improved
to 31st and second on the team with a two round total of 162.
Sisters Cathleen (JR) and Courtney (SR) O'Neill finished in
a tie for 41st at 165. Senior Le-Anh Nguyen had the best improvement
of the tournament, overcoming a first-round 89 to shoot a
second round 79, improving to 50th place.

9, 2004) - The UC Riverside women's golf team finished slipped
one spot on the final day to place in a tie for 12th at the
Bobcat Desert Classic Tournament at Palm Valley Golf Club
in Goodyear, AZ, hosted by the University of Montana.
The Highlanders shot a third
round 317, their worst round of the tournament, and slipped
from 11th to 12th with a three round total of 947. They were
59 shots behind first place Idaho, which one the tournament
by 15 strokes over Boise State.
Senior Le-Anh Nguyen was
the Highlanders' top player, finishing in a tie for 34th at
233 with a final round 80. Junior Lindsay Snowden shot her
second straight 81, which dropped her to 47th at 236. UCR's
top rounds of the day came from sisters Courtney and Cathleen
O'Neill. Senior Courtney shot a final round 77, finishing
in 54th at 238, while junior Cathleen rolled a 79 to finish
65th at 242.

22, 2005) - The UC Riverside women's golf team was declared
the winners of the Colby Invitational, hosted by Santa Clara.
Heavy rains washed out Tuesday's final round at the Rancho
Canada Golf Club in Carmel, CA.
The
Highlanders had a nine-shot lead over Northern Colorado after
first-round action, carding a new team-low 302. The score
beats Riverside's previous low of 305 at the NAU Lumberjack
Invitational in 2002.
Three
groups were able to start the day when tee-times began at
7:30am, but were pulled off the course by 8:15. Later, teams
returned to action for 90 minutes until the rains returned,
rendering the golf course unplayable. A flood warning was
issued by the National Weather Service through the evening,
as rainfall was as heavy as 1/2 inch per hour and wind gusts
were surpassing 20 mph.
Senior
Courtney O'Neill was the individual champion, with a 1-over
72 in the opening round.
Fellow
senior Le-Anh Nguyen finished in a three-way-tie for second
with a three-over 74, while junior Cathleen O'Neill ended
in a tie for eighth at 76. Junior Lindsay Snowden finished
with an 80, good for a tie for 23rd, and rounding out the
Highlander top-five was junior Jessica Smith who came in right
behind Snowden at 81 and in a tie for 28th. Competing as an
individual for UCR was senior Sarah Walmsley who struggled
to a 73rd place finish.
The
Highlanders next face off against Harvard in a spring break
match up March 31 at Canyon Crest Country Club in Riverside,
CA before heading north to the Fresno State Invitational,
April 4-5 in Fresno, CA.

31, 2005) - The UC Riverside women's golf team came in second,
two strokes behind winnners Cal State Northridge, at the one-day
Lady Braveheart Challenge at Canyon Crest CC in Riverside.
Le-Anh Nguyen finished second and Lindsay Snowden came third
among individuals at the three-team event.
The
Highlanders shot a 313 as a team in windy conditions while
CSUN carded a 311 to win. Harvard University finished third
with a 331.
Nguyen
shot a 38 on both nines to card a five-over 76, one stroke
behind medalist Emma Wahlgren of Northridge. Snowden went
38-39 to finish third with a 77. Courtney O'Neill tied with
CSUN's Adrienne Cipparone for fourth with a 78.

5, 2005) - The UC Riverside women's golf team finished Tuesday
in the same place they started, finishing ninth at the Fresno
State Invitational at Riverbend Golf Club in Madera, CA.
The
Highlanders finished with a three round total of 993, one
shot behind eighth place Montana State and 75 shots
behind winner and host Fresno State.
Junior Lindsay Snowden was
UCR's top finisher, placing in a tie for seventh with a final
round 79 for a total of 233. Snowden was the only Highlander
to shoot below 80, achieving the feat in each of the three
rounds.
Senior Le-Anh Nguyen moved
up to 44th from 52nd with a final round 81, giving her a total
of 252. Junior Cathleen O'Neill was one shot behind at 253
following a final round 85. Senior Courtney O'Neill and junior
Jessica Smith finished tied for 62nd at 264.

19, 2005) - The UC Riverside women's golf team finished in
sixth place at the Big West Championship Golf Tournament,
held April 18-19 at Tijeras Creek Golf Club in Rancho Santa
Margarita, Calif. The UC Irvine women's golf team packed five
golfers into the top 10 to breeze to their second Big West
team title.
UCR's top finisher was junior
Lindsay Snowden, who was 22nd, 33 shots back with a three
round total of 249. Senior Le-Anh Nguyen was one shot behind
at 250. As a team, UCR finished with a three round total of
1,000, 106 shots behind Irvine.
Led
by freshman Selanee' Henderson's 3-over 219, UC Irvine stayed
well ahead of the pack as the only team to stay under 300
on every round. No one was
able to catch Idaho freshman Renee Skidmore. Skidmore put
up scores of 70 and 69 on the first day and then shot a 75
on the final round to finish as the individual champion with
a 2-under 214.
Snowden was named first
team All-Big West following the tournament.

20, 2004) - The UC Riverside women’s golf team finished
sixth at the 2004 Big West Championship held at the Tijeras
Creek Golf Club in Rancho Margarita, CA, Monday and Tuesday.
Sophomore Lindsay Snowden earned First Team All-Big West and
junior Le-Ahn Nguyen also earned Second Team All-Big West
honors announced today at the conclusion of the tournament.
The Highlanders posted a three-round total 986, 61 strokes
behind winner Cal State Northridge. The Matadors equaled UC
Irvine's score of 311 in the final round to preserve its four-stroke
lead and capture its second straight Big West Championship.
Matador senior Beth Allen continued her superb play and repeated
as individual champion with a commanding 15-stroke victory.
