(October 11, 2008) - The UC Riverside Volleyball Team (7-13,
2-3) ended their Northern California road trip on Saturday evening
with a 3-0 loss to Pacific as the Tigers (5-9, 5-1) won 25-11,
25-16, and 25-19.
The Highlanders were out-hit in each of the first two sets,
but in the third UCR had a 12 to 11 advantage in kills and
a .455 to .280 advantage in attack percentage. Down 19-9 in
the third set, Riverside rallied 10 points to the Tigers six,
including three straight points down the stretch as Pacific
served for match point.
Both Kelly Fink (San Dimas, CA) and Dominique Cowling (Benicia,
CA) contributed a team-high eight kills, with Brittany Murrey
(El Cerrito, CA) adding a team-high eight digs and 15 assists,
and Angela Pizzella (San Jose, CA) recording a game-high five
block assists.
UCR continues Big West Conference play next weekend at home
against Long Beach State on Friday, Oct. 17 and UC Santa Barbara
on Saturday, Oct. 18. Both games begin at 7:30 pm at the Student
Recreation Center in Riverside.
