Ontiveros ,
Assistant Athletics Director/Director of Sports Medicine
Tony
Ontiveros joined the UC Riverside Athletics Department as the
head athletic trainer in the summer of 2003. He was appointed
to his current position in Fall, 2006.
Ontiveros came to UCR from the San Diego
Spirit of the Women’s United Soccer Association, where he
had served as head athletic trainer since 2001. In his first season
with the Spirit he was selected as the 2002 All-Star Game Athletic
Trainer for the WUSA.
From 1994 through 2001 he was the assistant
athletic trainer at UC San Diego, where he was responsible for
the Triton’s 23 intercollegiate teams. He was involved with
the United States Olympic Sports Medicine program, working with
the USA Field Hockey Team, the 1998 World Youth Games in Moscow,
Russia, the 1999 Pan Am Games and the 2000 Para-Olympics.
Ontiveros is a member of the American College
of Sports Medicine, the United States Olympic Sports Medicine
Society and the National College Athletic Trainers Association.
He has also served as a clinical instructor with the San Diego
State University Athletic Training curriculum program since 1999.
The native of San Diego earned his Bachelor’s
of Science degree from SDSU in 1993. He went on to earn a Master’s
of Arts degree in physical education with an emphasis in biomechanics
and a specialization in athletic training from SDSU in 2000. Ontiveros
is married and resides in Menifee.
Meagan
Peckham joined UC Riverside in the Summer of 2006 after completing
a graduate assistant position at San Diego State University.
She holds a Bachelors' Degree in physical
education with and athletic training concentration from Endicott
College, graduating in 2003, and got her Master's Degree in Kinesiology
with a concentration in biomechanics from San Diego State in 2006.
Peckham played varsity soccer for four years
at Endicott. She hails from Bennington, Vermont, where she attended
Mt. Anthony Union HS. She is certified by the National Athletic
Trainers Association, and her hobbies include playing soccer,
calligraphy and spending time with family and friends. She resides
in Vista.
Mark
Espinosa joined the UC Riverside Sports Medicine staff in March
of 2007.
Espinosa received his master's degree in
kinesiology/athletic training from Indiana University in 2004,
after completing a bachelor's degree in kinesiology/athletic training
at San Diego State in 2003. He also has a bachelor's degree in
psychology from UC Santa Barbara, earned in 1995.
He worked as the graduate assistant athletic
trainer for baseball and tennis at Indiana in 2003-04, and worked
as the intern athletic trainer for wrestling, judo and gymnastics
at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs in 2004-05
and was the athletic trainer for the 2005 Taekwondo World Championships
in Madrid, Spain. Most recently he worked as the head athletic
trainer at Sunnyslope High School in Phoenix during the 2005-06
school year.
Espinosa resides in his hometown of Redlands,
where he attended Redlands High School, graduating in 1991. His
hobbies include running, snowboarding and "sitting in coffee
shops and reading."
Jessika
Hunt,
Athletic Trainer
Jessika
Hunt was named to the UC Riverside Intercollegiate Athletics Training
Staff in the summer of 2007. She joins the Highlanders' program
after serving three years as the Head Athletic Trainer at Mount
St. Mary’s University in Maryland.
Hunt started in Emmitsburg in 2004, overseeing
the school's 18 varsity sports and serving as the primary trainer
for the men's basketball team. Prior to joining "The Mount,"
she was co-Head Athletic Trainer at Trinity College in Washington,
D.C. While working at the Division III program, Hunt assisted
all 10 varsity programs and helped develop and implement strength
and conditioning programs for the teams and players.
A 2000 graduate of East Carolina University,
she also worked in the George Washington athletic training department.
She completed her Masters Degree in exercise science in August,
2006 from the California University of PA. Hunt was the primary
athletic trainer for women's soccer, women's lacrosse, volleyball
and baseball during her two-year tenure.
Hunt isa member of the National Athletic
Trainers' Association since 1997. She resides in Riverside.
Ryan
Giangregorio,
Athletic Trainer
Ryan Giangregorio was named to the UC Riverside
Athletics Training staff in the fall of 2007.
Giangregorio came to UCR from Arizona, where
he worked for the Center for Athletic Performance and Physical
Therapy and worked with Cactus Shadows HS in Cave Creek, AZ outside
Phoenix. He had worked at Trabuco Hills HS in Mission Viejo, CA
from August 2005 through January, 2007. Prior to that he served
as an assistant athletic trainer at Cal Poly Pomona from August,
2003 through June, 2005.
Giangregorio received his bachelor of science
degree from Loyola Marymount University in natural science in
2003. He graduated from Damien HS in Pomona in 1999, having been
a four-year letterwinner in basketball.
His hobbies include biking, basketball and
reading. He resides in Riverside.
