(March 15, 2008) - The UC
Riverside Men's and Women's Track and Field teams continued
to reset the school record books after outstanding performances
at the Cal State Northridge Relays Saturday.
The Women's 4x200m "A"
team of Molly Russell, Whitney Leachman, TeAna Hundley, and
Marina Young set the school record with a time of 1:41.39
and also won the race. The 4x200m "B" team of Jacquyln
Lewis, Allison Wilder, Lauren Reid, and Ashley Williams finished
second at 1:41.99.
The Men's Sprint Medley
Relay team of Antoine Murray, Marcus Marbery, Andrew Jacobson
and Nemo Simmons also set the school-record with their second
place run of 3:26.26.
UCR also had numerous athletes
qualify for the Big West Championships.
Here is the list of BWC qualifiers:
1) Greg Lemon a second-place finish in the 400m (48.79).
2) Kyle Moschkin a personal-best in the Shot Put (47' 09.25").
3) Marselis Irving a personal-best in the Long Jump (22' 11").
4) Ashley Williams a first-place finish and personal-best
in the 400m (55.53).
5) Tajma Stephenson a second-place finish and personal-best
in the 400m (55.74).
6) Treana Hundley a personal-best in the 400m (57.44).
Other highlights of the
day were the top finishes of other Highlander relay teams.
The Men's 4x200m "A" team of Antoine Murray, Marcus
Marbrey, Greg Lemon, and Andrew Jacobson won their race with
a time of 1:28.64. The Women's Sprint Medley "A"
team of Molly Russell, Whitney Leachman, Marina Young, and
Uchechi Egeonuigweo finished second with a time of 4:05.85.
Jacquyln Lewis (19-02.75)
and Lauren Reid (18-11.75) finished second and third respectively
in the Women's Long Jump.
The Highlanders compete
at the Irvine Collegiate Invitational next weekend.
