Fresno State Sweeps Highlanders, 8-0, 6-2

April 3, 2003 - Fresno - The Fresno State Bulldogs swept the UC Riverside Highlanders 8-0 and 6-2 in a non-conference doubleheader in Fresno Wednesday.

Junior shortstop Karli Burneleit had a two-run triple in the top of the seventh inning in the nightcap to break up FSU's Leslie Poole shutout bid. Fresno State scored two runs in the first, second and sixth innings off of UCR pitchers Kim Dillon (3-7) and Nicole Bethurum.

In the first game, Highlander starter Janell Jackson nine hits and eight runs in 1.2 innings of work as the Bulldogs cruised to an 8-0 mercy rule win in five innings. Dillon pitched will in relief, allowing just three hits in the next 2.1 innings, but the Highlanders could not rally, amassing three hits in the game.

The Highlanders open Big West play on Saturday as they host Cal Poly at 12 noon at the UCR Softball Field.

UCR Splits with Cal Poly

(April 5, 2003) - Junior Jessica Gonzalez’s RBI single into right scored Karli Burneleit in the bottom of the 10th to allow the Highlanders to complete a 4-3 comeback over Cal Poly (17-23, 3-2) in game two at the UCR Softball Field today. The win gave the Highlanders (6-27, 1-4) the split for the day, as Cal Poly won the game one 8-0.

In the nightcap Cal Poly jumped on the Highlanders in the first inning as they score one run when Chelsy Stoufer singled to right plating Roni Sparrey giving them the 1-0 early advantage. Cal Poly would do most of its damage in the fourth inning as they scored when Natalie Carrillo, who had singled, scored on a Kaitlyn Wilson RBI single to left field. The Mustangs would add one more run as Shannon Brooks scored on a Chelsea Green walk giving them a 3-0 cushion.

In the bottom of the fourth UCR responded with a Melissa Sanchez solo shot over the center field fence allowing the Highlanders to cut the deficit to two.

In the bottom of the sixth Burneleit singled to center scoring Sanchez, who walked earlier, cutting lead to one. Two batters later Melissa Cunningham reached first on a fielder’s choice plating Jessica Black, who got on base with a single to right which tied the game at 3-3.

Riverside’s Sanchez did most of the damage for the Highlanders as she went two for three with one home run, one RBI and two walks.

Cal Poly’s Eva Nelson (4-6) took the loss for the Mustangs, giving up one run on five hits while Riverside’s Nicole Bethurum (2-4) recorded the win for the Highlanders, giving up three runs on eight hits.

In the first game the Mustangs defeated the Highlanders 8-0 in five innings. Cal Poly’s Holly Ballard went three for four with three RBI.

Cal Poly’s Jamie Gelbart (7-6) recorded the win for the Mustangs, giving up six hits in five innings of work. UCR’s Jenell Jackson (1-15) took the loss for Riverside, giving up six runs on eight hits.

UC Riverside will be back in action tomorrow as they play the third game of a three game series against Cal Poly at the UCR Softball Field at 12:00 PM.

UCR Defeats Cal Poly, 7-1

(April 6, 2003) The UC Riverside Softball team scored seven runs on seven hits in the second to capture the 7-1 victory over the Cal Poly Mustangs today at the UCR Softball Field. With the win the Highlanders captured the three game series with the Mustangs, 2-1.

The Highlanders (7-27, 2-4) got things started as Andrea Cunningham singled to left to score Karli Burneleit, who walked. The next batter, Jessica Gonzalez singled to right scoring Nicole Bethurum, who doubling to left. Two batters later Jeannine Robison’s RBI single to center scored pinch runner Shannon Peterson to push the score to 3-0. Kristen Hernandez’s RBI single to center scored Gonzalez, however Jamie Yee was thrown out at home, giving the Highlanders a 4-0 advantage. Melissa Sanchez stepped up and hit a three run shot over the center field fence to give the Highlanders a 7-0 lead.

Sanchez went one for two with one home run, her third on the season and second in as many days, and had three RBI.

Cal Poly (17-24, 3-3) spoiled the shutout as their lone run came in the top of the seventh when Holly Ballard doubled to right scoring Chelsy Stoufer, who reached on a single to right.

Bethurum (3-5) pitched a complete game for Riverside and got the win one run on six hits. Cal Poly’s Jamie Gelbart (6-7) took the loss for the Mustangs allowing four runs, on three hits in 1.1 innings of work.

UC Riverside will be back in action Thursday as they play host to UNLV at the UCR Softball Field at 1:00 PM.

Lions Sweep Highlanders, 1-0 and 8-5

(April 8, 2003) - Los Angeles - The Loyola Marymount women's softball team swept UC Riverside, 1-0 and 8-5, in doubleheader action on Tuesday afternoon at the LMU Softball Field.

Sophomore Emily Foltz hit her first home run of the year in dramatic fashion in Game 2. Foltz sent one over the left field fence for a grand slam in the fifth inning. The Lions (18-16 Overall) shutout the Highlanders (7-29 Overall) 1-0 in game one. Foltz drove in the only run of the game with a single to left in the second inning. Nicole Bethurum drew the loss, her record falls to 3-6.

The bats heated up in Game 2 as both teams combined for 20 hits. LMU struck early with two runs in the bottom of the first. UCR answered with three runs in the top of the second to take its first lead of the afternoon. Melissa Sanchez led off with a single off Lion pitcher Krystal Kehr. With two outs, Kehr gave up a three run homer to Andrea Cunningham. Jamie Yee grounded out to Kaminaka to end the inning. LMU regained the lead in the bottom of the second. RF Tiffany Lawson hit her first home run of the year off UCR starting pitcher Janelle Jackson. CF Jessica Grassi followed with a triple and then later scored on a single by 2B Casie Phillips. The Highlanders put up two more runs in the game, one in both the third and fourth inning, and were up 5-4 going into the bottom of the fifth. With one out Kaminaka began a rally which saw the Lions load the bases. Bassett struck out for the second out of the inning giving way to Foltz. Foltz smashed the ball over the left field fence giving LMU all the ammunition it needed to walk away with an 8-5 win.

Strinz picked up her fifth win of the year after coming on in relief of Kehr in the fifth inning. Jackson record drops to 1-16 with the loss.

UNLV Sweeps UCR 3-0, 4-0

(April 10, 2003) - The UC Riverside Softball team was swept by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas 3-0, and 4-0 at the UCR Softball Field on Thursday.

In the early game UNLV (18-33) scored one run in the first as Bridget Byrne scored on a RBI single to left from Lisa Moses to give the Rebels the 1-0 advantage. The Rebels added one more the next inning as Byrne had a sacrifice fly scoring Kacey Ellis, who had walked. The Rebels would add the final run in the fourth as they Byrne’s RBI single to center scored Becky McDonald, who doubled. Byrne led the Rebles as she went two-for-four with one RBI, and she also had a hand in all the runs scored for the Rebels.

UNLV’s McDonald (2-10) got the victory for the Rebels allowing two hits in seven innings of work. Starter Nicole Bethurum (3-7) trecorded the loss for the Highlanders as she allowed two runs -one unearned- on two hits in two innings of work.

In the nightcap the Rebels again scored in the first inning, recording two runs on three hits. UNLV would then add two more runs in the top of the seventh sealing the sweep over UCR (7-31). Carrie Bayless led the way for the Rebels this game as she went two-for-three with one RBI.

UNLV’s Jackie Kerrigan (14-9) recorded the shutout for the Rebels allowing seven hits. Jenell Jackson (1-17) piicked up the loss for the Highlanders allowing four runs on eight hits.

UC Riverside will be back in action this weekend as they travel to UC Santa Barbara for a three-game series with the Gauchos beginning Saturday.

Gauchos Take Two from Highlanders

(April 12, 2003) - The UC Santa Barbara softball team swept the visiting UC Riverside Highlanders Saturday,taking the opener 8-0 in five innings and the night cap 6-3.

Santa Barbara dominated the mercy rule-shortened game one (8-0), out-hitting Riverside 10-2. Senior Loren Thornburg threw her 10th shutout of the season to improve to 13-9 on the season. The Highlanders' Nicole Bethurum got the loss and falls to 3-8.

UC Riverside jumped out to a 3-0 lead in third inning of game two when Nicole Bethurum blasted a three-run homerun to dead center for her first round-tripper of the season. UCSB then responded with two runs in the bottom half to narrow the score to 3-2 after three innings. After a scoreless fourth, the Gauchos plated three runs in bottom of the fifth with two outs for the eventual win. Lauchland got things going with a bases loaded RBI single to leftfield that scored Natalie Adame for the first run of the fifth. Senior Jami Trinidad then drove in the last two runs of the inning with a double to the gap in left-center, scoring Pershing and junior Leslie Simien. UCSB added an insurance in the sixth with a Simien RBI bloop single to leftfield to give the game its final 6-3 score. Freshman Carly Harmon (13-5) picked up the win, striking out six in the complete game effort. Kimberly Dillon (3-8) had the loss for UCR.

UCSB is 27-14 and 4-4 in the Big West, while UCR is(7-33, 2-6). Game three of the series is scheduled for tomorrow at 12 noon at Campus Diamond barring any inclement weather.

Rain Washes Out Game

(April 13, 2003) - The softball game between UCSB and UCR was rained out Sunday. It has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 29th at 2 PM in Santa Barbara.

Cunningham Helps Highlanders Take Two in Vegas

(April 16, 2003) - LAS VEGAS - Junior Andrea Cunningham had a big day, helping the UC RIverside Highlanders avenge a sweep last week by returning the favor to the host UNLV Rebels Wednesday in Las Vegas. The Highlanders won the opener 4-3 in eight innings in the opener, then took the nightcap, 3-1.

UCR (9-31) broke a 1-1 tie in the second inning as Cunningham hit a one-out double and came around to score on a Rebel fielding error. UNLV returned to the lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning and the score remained 3-2 until the fourth, as Cunningham scored on an RBI single by Jeannie Robison.

The game remained tied after regulations, and the Highlanders opened the eighth with back-to-back singles. Melissa Sanchez came around to score on UNLV's second fielding error of the game, and the rebels went down quietly in the bottom of the inning.

In the night cap Pauline Glenn hit her fifth homer of the year to give the Rebels a 1-0 lead. The Highlanders rallied in the fourth with singles by Sanchez and Karli Burneleit. Cunningham knocked both runs home to give UCR a lead they would not relinquish. Burneleit added an insurance run in the sixth with a solo home run.

CSUN Sweeps UCR 10-0, 9-5

(April 18, 2003) - The UC Riverside Softball team was swept by Cal State Northridge 10-0 (6inn), and 9-5 Friday at the UCR Softball Field.

In the early game Northridge (20-18, 6-5) scored three runs in the first, third and sixth innings, and added one run in the fourth to defeat Riverside by virtue of the mercy rule. Sophomore Kia Fennell led the Matadors offensive serge as she went three for four with five RBI. and two home runs.

CSUN’s Fennell (13-8) got the shutout for the Matadors allowing two hits in seven innings of work. Starter Nicole Bethurum (4-9) recorded the loss for the Highlanders as she allowed six runs on six hits in 1.1 innings of work.
In the nightcap Northridge opened things up in the fourth inning as they scored four runs on five hits. Fennell again hit a home run, her third of four for the day, scoring Emilee Moores who had singled. Two batters later Jan Moshier hit a two run shot over the center field fence plating Janine Grund, who had singled, to push the lead to 4-0.

The Highlanders (9-35, 2-8) responded with two runs of their own in the fourth. Karli Burneleit’s RBI single to right scored Melissa Sanchez who had singled to give the Highlanders their first run of the day. Colby Kelly’s RBI single up the middle scored Nicole Bethurum, who had singled, to cut the lead to two.
Northridge answered in the fifth as Christen Badwell’s RBI single up the middle scored Sondra Milchiker, who had singled, to increase the lead to 5-2.

In the bottom of the fifth the Highlanders came roaring back to score three runs. Sanchez had an RBI single to center field to score Shannon Peterson, who had singled. Karli Burneleit’s sacrifice fly to right scored Kristen Hernandez, who reached on an error. Sanchez rounded third to scored on a head first dive at the plate due to an errant throw by the right fielder to even things up at five runs a piece.

In the top of the seventh with the game still tied and the bases loaded, Fennell hit a grand slam over the right field fence to give the game it’s final score of 9-5.

CSUN’s Fennell recorded win for the Matadors allowing three runs -one earned- on three hits. Kim Dillon (4-9) picked up the loss for the Highlanders allowing nine runs on 16 hits.

UC Riverside will be back in action tomorrow, as they will Host CSUN in game three of the three game series at the UCR Softball Field.

UCR Sweeps USD, 3-2, 4-2

(April 23, 2003) - The UC Riverside Softball team swept the University of San Diego 3-2 (9 inn.), and 4-2 Wednesday at the UCR Softball Field.

In the early game the Highlanders (11-36) got things going in the second inning as Melissa Sanchez, who had singled, scored on an error by third basemen Sara Mason to give Riverside a 1-0 early lead.

San Diego (6-34) answered with two runs of their own in the third as Gina McFarland singled up the middle driving in two runs to give the Torrero’s a 2-1 lead.

Riverside got one run back in the fifth as Kristen Hernandez’s RBI single to second scored Jeannine Robison, who had singled.

Finally in the ninth Shannon Peterson’s RBI single to center platted Robison, who had singled, to finalize the victory for the Highlanders.

Kimberley Dillon (5-10) picked up the win for Riverside allowing two hits in 6.1 innings of work. McFarland (3-12) took the loss for USD allowing three runs –two earned- on eight hits.

In the nightcap Riverside wasted no time scoring as the Highlanders put up two runs on two hits in the first. Shannon Peterson’s sacrifice bunt scored Jamie Yee, who had tripled, to give the Highlanders their first run on the inning. Nicole Bethurum’s RBI single up the middle scored Peterson to give UCR the early 2-0 advantage.

Riverside would add two more runs in the bottom of the third as Bethurum’s RBI single to right scored Kristen Hernandez, who had walked. Jessica Gonzalez reached on a fielder’s choice to score Sanchez, who had singled, to give the Highlanders a 4-0 lead.

San Diego got on the boards in the fourth as Marissa Merchain reached on an error by the first baseman, allowing Desi Collo, who had tripled, to score and cut the lead to 4-1. The Torrero’s added one more run in the seventh as Ashlee Nunes, who had singled, scored on a wild pitch to give the game it’s final of 4-2.

Jamie Yee led the offensive charge for the Highlanders as she went three-for-four with one triple.

Jenell Jackson (2-17) got the win for the Highlanders as she allowed two runs -one earned- on seven hits. Erin Harmonson (3-13) took the loss for USD allowing four runs on seven hits.

UC Riverside will be back in action this weekend, as they will play a three game series with No. 7 Cal State Fullerton at the UCR Softball Field, with game time set for 12:00 on both days.

UCR Signs Four to NLI's

(April 25, 2003) - The UC Riverside softball team has signed Elizabeth Buck of Lake Elsinore, CA, Liana Alston of San Diego, Sara Radabaugh of Moorpark, CA, and Hailey Marshall of Redondo Beach, CA to National Letters of Intent.

Elizabeth Buck will graduate from Temescal Canyon High School in the Spring and will enter UCR as a freshman. “She is an excellent catcher with a solid arm,” said Head Coach Mike Smith. Buck is a four-time letterwinner and has been named to the all-league state team. Buck played travel ball for the Phoenix Storm Gold.

Liana Alston will graduate from University City High School in the Spring and will enter UCR as a freshman. “Alston is explosive out of the box and will put a lot of pressure on the defense,” said Smith. “She has extreme quickness and a strong bat which give her the tools to be successful at the Division I level.” Alston played for the San Diego Power Surge travel ball team.

Sara Radabaugh will graduate from Oaks Christian High School in the Spring and will enter UCR as a freshman. “Sara has good velocity and a wide arrange of pitches, which will keep hitters on their toes,” Smith said. Radabaugh played travel ball for the San Diego Renegades.

Hailey Marshall will graduate from Redondo Union High School in the Spring and will enter UCR as a freshman. She is very aggressive in the box and on the base paths,” Smith said. “She is a great slapper, and bunter, which will put pressure on the defense.” Marshall played travel ball for the Vipers Gold.

Fullerton Sweeps UCR 7-1, 8-0

(April 26, 2003) - The UC Riverside softball team got swept by No. 7 Cal State Fullerton 7-1, and 8-0 (5 inn.) at the UCR Softball Field.

In the early game the Titans (32-13, 13-1) scored two runs in the first, three runs in both the third, and fifth to capture the victory. Jenny Topping went two-for-four with four RBI, and one home run to lead the offensive charge for Fullerton.

Riverside (9-38, 2-11) scored its only run in the seventh inning as Andrea Cunningham’s RBI single up the middle scored Kristen Hernandez, who had singled, to spoil the shutout for Fullerton and give the game’s it’s final score of 7-1.

Jodie Cox (16-7) records the win for Fullerton pitching four scoreless innings. Kimberly Dillon (5-11) took the loss for the Highlanders as she allowed seven runs on 13 hits in seven innings of work.

In the nightcap Fullerton did most of their damage in the first inning as they scored six runs -two earned- on six hits. Fullerton added one run in each of the next two innings to win by virtue of the mercy rule 8-0. Jenny Topping was perfect at the plate as she went two-for-to with two RBI, and one double.

Riverside’s Jamie Yee spoiled Fullerton’s no hitter in the third as she singled up the middle.

Gina Oaks (16-6) records the win for the Titans as she allowed one hit in five innings of work. Jenell Jackson (2-18) took the loss for Riverside as she allowed seven runs –three earned- on eight hits in two innings of work.

UCR will be back in action tomorrow, as they will close out a three game series against Cal State Fullerton at the UCR Softball Field. Game time is slated for 12:00 PM.

CSUF Defeats UCR, 8-1

(Riverside, CA) - The UC Riverside softball team was defeated by No. 7 Cal State Fullerton, 8-1 Sunday at the UCR Softball Field.

Fullerton (33-13, 14-1) got things started in the first as Gina Oaks, who had singled, scored as on an error by the catcher to give the Titans a 1-0 lead. Jenny Topping, who reached on an error, scored on a wild pitch to give Fullerton two unearned runs, and a 2-0 lead.

Riverside (11-39, 2-12) got their only run of the game in the bottom of the first as Jeannine Robison, who had doubled, scored on a wild pitch to cut the lead to one.

Fullerton would push the lead back up to two in the top of the second as Jennifer Holt’s RBI double to left would plate Amy LaRocque, who had singed to give the Titans a 3-1 advantage.

Fullerton took that lead into the seventh, and added five more runs to give the game its final score of 8-1. Fullerton’s LaRocque led the offensive charge for the Titans as she went three-for-four.

Freshman pitcher Roxy Moran (1-0) picked up her first collegiate win for the Titans allowing one run on four hits in seven innings of work. Starter Nicole Bethurum took the loss for the Highlanders as she allowed eight runs -five earned- on eight hits.

UCR will be back in action Tuesday as they travel to UC Santa Barbara to take on the Gauchos in Big West competition. Game time is set for 2:00 PM.

Gauchos Hand Highlanders 3-1 Defeat in Rain Out Make-Up

(Santa Barbara, CA) - The UC Riverside softball team fell to 11-40 overall and 2-13 in the Big West following a 3-1 loss to host UC Santa Barbara Tuesday.

The game was a make-up of an earlier rain out.

The Gauchos scored three runs in the third inning to build a 3-0 lead. The Highlanders rallied for a single run in the top of the fourth as second baseman Karli Burneleit was hit by a pitch, advanced to second on a single and went to third on a passed ball, then came home on a ground out by Jessical Gonzalez.

Freshman Carly Harmon (17-7) got the win for UCSB, striking out four. Nicole Bethurum took the loss, falling to 4-11.

Utah Defeats UCR, 4-1

(Salt Lake City, UT) - The UC Riverside Softball team was defeated by the University of Utah Utes, 4-1 Friday at the Ute Field in Salt lake City, Utah.

The Highlanders (11-41) got on the boards first as Melissa Sanchez hit her fourth homer of the season n the top of the second to give UCR the early 1-0 advantage.

Utah (19-21) answered in the bottom of the second with one run of their own as Jackie Wong’s RBI sacrifice bunt plated Niki Hayhurst, who had singled, to even things up ay one a piece.

Utah Scored another run in the fifth as Wong’s RBI ground out scored Keller, who had doubled, to give the Utes a 2-1 advantage.

Utah Scored again in the bottom of the sixth as Hayhurst homered over the right field fence to give Utah a 3-1 lead. The Utes would add an insurance run in the sixth as Glennis Donnelly scored on an error by the shortstop, to give the game its final of 4-1.

Utah’s en Pursell (12-13) picked up the win for the Utes as she allowed one run on two hits in seven innings of work. Started Kim Dillon took the loss for the Highlanders allowing three runs on four hits in five innings of work.

Highlanders Take Two from Utah State

(May 3, 2003) - The UC Riverside softball team swept a double header from Utah State Saturday, wining the first game 6-3 and the nightcap 15-3.

UCR improved to 13-40 overall and 4-13 in the Big West, while USU fell to 6-35 overall and 1-15 in the Big West.

The Highlanders scored three times in the fourth inning of the opener as second baseman Karli Burneleit slugged a three run homer off of USU starter Leslie Higley. The Highlanders tacked on three in the top of the seventh on an RBI double by Kristin Hernandez and a two-run single by Nicole Bethurum. The Aggies scored three times in the bottom of the inning, but UCR held on to give Behturum her fifth win of the season.

The Highlander bats exploded in the nightcap, tallying a nine-run sixth inning to mercy the Aggies. Jeannine Robison and Andrea Cunningham led the attack with three his each and Bethurum and Cunningham each had homers and four RBI. Kim Dillon got the win, her sixth, striking our four and allowing seven hits in five innings of work.

The Highlanders and Aggies play the third game of the series Sunday.

Aggies Take Third Game, 9-1

(May 4, 2003) - Casey Smith hit her first career home run and went 4-3 with a double as the Aggies beat UC Riverside 9-1 here Sunday. The win marked the first home victory of the season for USU. The Aggies improved to 7-35 on the season and 2-13 in the Big West. The Highlanders fell to 13-41, 4-14.

Utah State jumped out to an early lead, scoring six runs in the second inning. Smith sparked the scoring bonanza as she doubled, driving in two runs. In the same inning, Marcie Neff picked up her 11th steal of the season, moving into tenth place for steals in a season by an Aggie.

Smith hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning to clinch the victory for the Aggies. Leslie Higley pitched six innings, earning her fifth win of the season. She allowed just one run, as the Highlanders' Jamie Yee scored off a wild pitch.

Tigers Sweep Highlanders 3-1, 5-0

(Riverside, CA) - The UC Riverside Softball team was swept by the University of the Pacific tigers 3-1 and 5-0 Friday at the UCR Softball Field.

In the early game the Tigers (33-22, 9-10) scored two unearned runs in the first to give them a 2-0 early advantage.

Pacific added one more run in the top of the third as Michelle Anunciation doubled to right scoring Ashlie D’Errico, who had doubled, to push the score to 3-0.

The Highlanders’ (13-44, 4-16) only run came in the fifth as Shannon Peterson score on an error by second baseman Aloha Yamaguchi to cut the lead to 3-1.

Natalie King (14-9) picked up the win for the Tigers allowing one unearned run on six hits in seven innings of work. Nicole Bethurum (5-13) took the loss for the Highlanders allowing three runs -one earned- on six hits in seven innings of work.

In the nightcap Pacific scored one run in the first as Kristen Allen’s RBI single to left scored Barbara Moody, who had doubled, to give the Tigers the 1-0 advantage.

Pacific took that lead into the seventh and added four more runs on five hits to give the game its final of 5-0. Brittany Hays led the offensive charge for the Tigers as she went a perfect four-for-four.

Jennifer Dacre (13-10) picked up the win for Pacific allowing six hits in seven innings of work, while recording a career best 12 strikeouts. Kim Dillon took the loss for the Highlanders allowing five runs -three earned- on thirteen hits in seven innings of work.

UC Riverside will be back in action tomorrow, as they conclude the three game series with Pacific at the UCR Softball Field. The game time is set for 12:00 PM.

Sanchez, Yee Earn Big West Honors

(May 13, 2003) - Freshman third baseman Melissa Sanchez was named second team All-Big West at third base and redshirt freshman Jamie Yee was named honorable mention in the outfield as the 2003 All-Big West Softball teams were announced Tuesday.

Sanchez led the team in hitting at .270, homers with four, runs with 26 and was second in RBI with 17. She appeared in all but one game for the Highlanders. Yee, who missed last season when she suffered a knee injury on the last day of the preseason, rebounded to hit .256 overall with three doubles and three RBI. She appeared in 56 games, primarily hitting in the leadoff spot and had a .971 fielding percentage (two errors in 70 chances.)
