Murray Named “Responsibility Matters Good Sport Of The Month”

Senior April Murray is the March "Responsibility Matters Good Sport of the Month."

(April 11, 2008) - Anheuser-Busch has teamed up with UC Riverside athletics and has chosen UCR senior softball player April Murray as the March recipient of the "Responsibility Matters Good Sport of the Month."

Murray graduated cum laude with a business administration degree last June and is currently working on her MBA. On March 13, 2008, April was recognized as a Big West Scholar Athlete, which is awarded to one Male and one Female student-athlete at each of the nine schools that make up the Big West Conference. Following the 2007 season, Murrary was named the team’s offensive and defensive player of the year. Through 39 games this season, Murray is second in the team in hits (31) and stolen bases (7) and she is third in both batting average (.284) and in runs scored (15). Also this season season, April produced a team-best 13-game hitting streak, which ended just this past weekend against Cal State Fullerton.

Murray roots for the Anaheim Angels and enjoys watching “The Bachelor” and “Survivor.” She listens to all types of music and likes to spend time at the beach and at Lake Havasu. April cites her dad as her biggest influence as an athlete and thanks he mom for “always supporting her and being there for her.”
