UCR to "Introduce" New TigerTurf Soccer Field at Reception Tuesday

(August 24, 2007) – The UC Riverside Athletics Department will "introduce" its new TigerTurf soccer field to the campus and community in a reception scheduled for Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at 4:30 p.m. at the UCR Soccer Stadium.

The reception will be held on the Amy S. Harrison Softball Field patio, with refreshments being served at 4:30 p.m., followed by a brief presentation beginning at 5:00 p.m. The reception is open to the public.

The new TigerTurf field replaces the grass surface on the Lower Fields, turning the venue into a 24/7 practice and competition facility. Both the men's and women's teams will be able to practice and play on the surface without concerns that are so prevalent on traditional grass surfaces. The field was built in just a 45-day period.

Media interested in attending should contact Media Relations Director Ross French at (951) 827-5438. Others interested in attending should RSVP to Lorie Grose at (951) 827-5432 no later than Monday.
