(August 7, 2007) - The
Rotary Club of Riverside is teaming up with the University
of California Riverside Intercollegiate Athletics Department
for a monthly luncheon that will allow the community to
get to know the members of the Highlander coaching staff.
“We have an opportunity
to showcase the leadership behind the athletic teams that
have projected our city to the national spotlight,"
2007-08 Riverside Rotary President John Patterson of AG
Edwards said. "Rotary promotes community service,
and I want to help Riverside get to know the coaches on
a personal level and do my part to help promote the university.”
The luncheons will take
place on the second Wednesday of every month at noon at
the Mission Inn in Riverside and will cost participants
$20.00. Head Women’s Coach Veronica O’Brien
will be the first featured speaker on Wednesday, August
8th.
“We are thrilled
with the commitment John has made to have Rotary partner
with UCR Athletics. Our goal is to attract the community
to join us and meet our phenomenal coaching staff,”
said Julie Hall, Assistant Athletics Director and Secretary
of the Riverside Rotary.
