Quac Doan advanced to the second round of the consolation
draw of the ITA Regionals at Pepperdine University in Malibu
Thursday.
Doan defeated Alex Sonesson
of Cal Poly, 7-5, 6-0 in the second round. Doan plays Sam
Tadevosian of LMU at 11 a.m. Friday.
"Quac played really
well. He struggled a little at the start, but once he got
to 5-5, he didn't lose again," Head Coach York Strother
said.
In the main draw, senior
Joe Cartledge dropped a 6-3, 6-3 decision to No. 4 seed Bassam
Beidas of Pepperdine. Freshman John Park lost to Ivan Lopez
of LMU, 6-1, 6-1.
"Joe played very well.
Beidas is very good, possibly one of the top 30 in the nation.
Joe lost by one break in each set," Strother said.
