(Oct. 7, 2007) - UC Riverside
was one of five schools that participated in the UC Irvine
Pre-Regional Tournament Oct. 5-7.
The Highlanders opened the
challenge with a match against host UC Irvine on Friday. Joe
Cartledge, John Park and Quoc Doan were individual winners
on the day and the doubles team of Sebastian Ko and Gorjan
Kovacevic defeated Alex Sundling and Ryan Mayer of UCI.
Saturday UCR took on Portland
as Joe Cartledge was the only winner on the day with his 6-4,
1-6, 6-2 victory over UP's Flip Zivkovic.
Ko and Kovacevick closed
out the challenge with a doubles victory over Arizona State's
Murilo Souza and Paul Chappell.
At the conclusion of the
match the following winners were announced:

Flight Two: Victor Lamm - UC Irvine
Flight Three: Filip Zivkovic - Portland
Flight Four: Charlie Yemm - Portland
Flight Five: Evan Schleining - Portland
Flight Six: Ryan Mayer - UC Irvine

Flight One: Zivkovic/Yemm - Portland
Flight Two: Miller/Chappell - Arizona State
Flight Three: Sleining/Walls - Portland
The Highlanders return to
action at the ITA Regionals in Malibu Oct. 17-21.
