Riverside goalkeeper Charles Alamo was named Big West Player
of the Week after posting two shutouts for the week ending
9/9/07.This is Alamo’s second career Player of the Week
award after earning the honor once last season.
Alamo recorded his 11th
and 12th career shutouts in wins against #21 San Diego State
on September 3 and Alabama A&M on September 9 as the Highlanders
went 2-1 last week. The fifth-year senior captain made 12
saves of the 14 shots he faced during the three games last
week as UCR improved to 3-1 on the young season.
UCR host San Jose State
Friday at 3 p.m. for their first home game of the season on
the new TigerTurf surface at the UCR Soccer Stadium.
