Highlanders Fall to Mercer In Overtime, 2-1

(September 7, 2007) - UC Riverside lost its first game of the season, 2-1in overtime Friday night to Mercer University at the Mercer University Tournament in Macon, GA. Sophomore Nathan Paterson knocked in the only goal for the Highlanders as they fell to 2-1. The Bears improve to 2-1.

The Highlanders got on the board first as Paterson took a pass from freshman Cito Soriano at 20:18 and banged it home from 18 yards out for his second goal of the season to give the Highlanders an early 1-0 lead. Soriano picked up his second assist of the season with a perfectly placed pass through two defenders to the streaking Paterson who put past the Bear keeper.
