Andrew Cortez was two-under 142 and freshman Nick Paez was
at an even 144 over two-rounds of the Giustina Memorial Classic
Tournament at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis, OR Monday.
The Highlanders squad is in eighth overall.
Cortez shot a first round
72 and a second round 70 to sit in 13th place. Freshman Nick
Paez was two shots behind at 144, placing him in a tie for
22nd. Sophomore Scott Clayton is in a tie for 24th at one-over
145.
The tournament, which honors
OSU booster Nat Giustina’s, is being played in a unique
format that pairs the men’s and women’s teams
from each school in a combined competition against the other
schools. Teams play in foursomes that include one male and
one female from each school. In combined play, the Highlanders
men and women are seventh overall with 1,191 strokes.
The tournament concludes
Tuesday.
