(Nov. 10, 2007) - The UC Riverside men's basketball team opened their 2007-08 season with a hard fought 68-56 loss to 2007 NCAA Tournament participant Texas Tech in Lubbock, TX Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Sean Cunningham led the Highlanders with 15 points and senior Larry Cunningham added 13.

The Highlanders (0-1) kept it close and proved throughout the game that they could play with TTU (1-0), trailing only 35-31 at the half. UCR even cut the Red Raider lead to 45-44 midway through the second half.

The story was the turnovers that proved to be costly for UCR as Texas Tech forced 27 Highlander turnovers and took advantage later in second half to put the game out of reach with a 17-3 run. TTU scored 28 points off of the 27 UCR turnovers.
