(June 6, 2007) - UC Riverside
Men's Basketball Coach Jim Wooldridge announced the hiring
of Dennis Cutts as assistant coach and John Smallwood as director
of basketball operations Wednesday.
Cutts brings over 15 years of coaching experience to the Highlander
staff, including stops at Northern Arizona, San Jose State
and Stephen F. Austin. He most recently served as director
of basketball operations under Wooldridge at Kansas State.
"I am very excited to have Dennis join our staff," Wooldridge
said. "Dennis has experience in recruiting the state of California,
which will be essential to our success. He is also an outstanding
coach and has a proven Division I background."
Smallwood joins the Highlander staff as the director of basketball
operations after graduating from Kansas State University in
2006. He had served as a team manager for the Wildcats from
2003 through 2007 under Wooldridge and Bob Huggins.
"Though he is young, John has been around basketball his entire
life. He is a hard worker with a great deal of energy. John
will bring a winning attitude and approach to the job every
day. He will be a tremendous asset to the program," Wooldridge
said.
The duo join returning assistant coach Vonn Webb on the staff.
Wooldridge said he will be filling the remaining spot on the
staff later in the summer.
