Josh Scott Signs Scholarship Agreement With Highlanders

Ennis, Thomsen Not to Return in 07-08

(May 25, 2007) -UC Riverside Head Coach Jim Wooldridge announced that Josh Scott has accepted a scholarship and plans to join the Highlanders' basketball program for the 2007-08 season.

"Josh has the capability of making an immediate impact," Wooldridge said. "Josh has proven to be a leader and winner. He has relatives in Southern California and is looking forward to the opportunity to play in front of his family.

Scott, a 6-8, 235 pound forward, played for Coach Phil Lumpkin at O'Dea High School in Seattle, WA, helping his team to Washington state championships in 2005 and 2007. During his senior season in 2006-07, Scott averaged 10.7 points and 12.4 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 3.6 blocks per game.

"Josh is one of the many pieces that are going to help change the direction of UC Riverside. We are very excited to have him joining our program."

In addition, Wooldridge announced that 2006-07 freshmen Korri Ennis and Henrik Thomsen would not be returning to the program. Ennis (6-0, Brandon, FL), who averaged 1.6 points and 0.7 assists as the Highlanders' back-up point guard, has been granted his release to enable him to transfer. Thomsen (6-8, Gundsømagel, Denmark) has returned to Denmark and has signed with an agent in order to play professionally. Thomsen averaged 10.6 points and 3.1 rebounds per game for the Highlanders in 30 games and was selected as the Big West Freshman of the Year and named to the collegeinsider.com Freshman Mid-Major All-America Team.

"We wish both Korri and Henrik nothing but success in the future," Wooldridge added.
