(May 24, 2007) -The UC Riverside
men's basketball team is taking applications for team student
managers for the 2007-08 seasons, Head Coach Jim Wooldridge
announced.
"We are looking for
as many as five additional student managers for the 2007-08
season," Wooldridge said. "We are looking for young,
hard workers who would like to get the experience of working
in a Division I men's basketball program. It will be a lot
of hard work, but will also be a rewarding experience."
Wooldridge added that the
managerial jobs are often a great first step for individuals
interested in a coaching career.
"Dozens of coaches
throughout college basketball got their start as team managers.
You learn a little bit of everything," he said.
Sample managerial duties
include assisting the coaching staff in practice and on game
day, charting and tracking of stats on the sideline, arranging
and conducting tours, weight room and study hall supervision,
participation in camps or clinics and office duties.
Individuals interested in
the positions should contact Assistant Coach Vonn Webb at
(951) 827-4124 or via e-mail at vonn.webb@ucr.edu.
