Highlanders Dominate at Cal Poly Meet
(Oct. 13, 2007) – The UCR men’s and women’s cross country teams took a big step towards their goal of reaching and excelling in the postseason Saturday as the teams swept the 2007 VS Athletics/Cal Poly Invitational at the Fairbanks Cross Country Course in San Luis Obispo. The Highlander men placed their top five runners among the top eight places, led by a first-place performance by senior Ulices Pina, and the women placed their top five finishers among the top 11, paced by a first place finish by junior Brenda Martinez.

(Oct. 2, 2007) - The 2007 Division I Men's and Women's Cross Country Regional Rankings were released Tuesday, and UC Riverside was featured prominently on both lists. The women are ranked sixth, the men 11th.

Highlander Men and Women Take First Place at UC Riverside Invitational, Martinez Shines
(Sept. 29, 2007) – The UCR men’s and women’s cross country teams were impressive in the 27th Annual UC Riverside Cross Country Invitational Saturday morning at the UC Agricultural Operations Course in Riverside. The morning’s event was highlighted by the outstanding effort of sophomore Brenda Martinez, as she set a course record with a 5,000-meter time of 16:52.10, besting the old record by over 15 seconds.
