2007: Started 41 of the 54 games in which he appeared... named to Freshman All-American team by Collegiate Baseball and Ping!... named to Second Team All-American Team by Rivals.com...Big West Conference Freshman Player of the Year and Second Team All-Conference... hit .356 with 19 RBI... scored 41 runs with 14 doubles and two home runs... put together 14-game hitting streak from February 27-March 31... had eight-game hitting streak from April 29-May 13... went 2-for-8 with a run scored and one RBI in NCAA Regional (6/1-6/3/07)... went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a stolen base against Portland (3/10/07)... was 3-for-5 with an RBI versus San Diego State (3/13/07)... was 3-for-5 with an RBI at Washington (4/10/07)... went 3-for-6 with a home run, two RBI, and three runs scored against Cal State Northridge (5/12/07)... was 3-for-4 in win at #11 Long Beach State (5/19/07)... hit first career home run at San Diego State (5/1/07).

High School: Three-year letterwinner at Martin Luther King HS in Riverside under Head Coach Rich Graves… helped lead Wolves to Sunkist League Championship as a sophomore… named First Team All-Ivy League and First Team All-Riverside County as a senior… played in Riverside County All-Star Game in 2006… earned school’s Scholar Athlete of the Year Award his senior year… competed on 2006 USABF World Series Championship team… voted team Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year as a junior… named to Second Team All-Ivy League as a junior and played in 2005 CBCA North/South All-Star Game… earned High Honors and Presidential Scholar Award… three-year scholar athlete… member of California Scholastic Federation… served on Riverside County Youth Advisory Council.

Personal: Joey Gonzales was born on March 1, 1988, in El Centro, CA… parents are Ken and Kathy Gonzales… has yet to declare a major… cheers for the Los Angeles Dodgers… favorite athlete is Muhammad Ali… favorite novels are “Of Mice and Men” and “Where the Red Fern Grows”… likes to eat steak and mashed potatoes… favorite movies are “The Natural” and “Bull Durham”… watches Friends on TV… listens to the music of Tupac Shakur… plays poker and goes to the beach in his free time… most memorable sports moment was winning the 2006 USABF World Series… lists his parents as his biggest influence for their support and pushing him to do his best.
